Security Requirements as Part of NIAP Program
Boca Raton, Fla., June 14, 2005 - CyberGuard® Corporation (NASDAQ: CGFW),
a global provider of security solutions that protect the business-critical information
assets of Global 2000 enterprises and government organizations, today announced
that it has achieved Common Criteria EAL 4+ Certification from the National
Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) for the 1000, 3000, and 5000 lines
of its TSP network security appliances. EAL4+ is the highest mutually recognized
certification level, assuring customers that CyberGuard’s products have
gone through a long and rigorous testing process.
"When dealing with complex IT security issues, government agencies and large
enterprises demand that the products they select are certified to this very
high level," said Pat Clawson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, CyberGuard.
"CyberGuard has always dedicated the time and resources required to work in
the most sensitive and classified environments to ensure that our customers
have the right solutions to achieve the highest level of security. EAL4+ certification
demonstrates our continued commitment to this mission."
Through this certification process CyberGuard has also gained conformance to

Version 1.1; and Conformance to U.S. Department of Defense Application-level
Firewall Protection Profile for Basic Robustness Environments, Version 1.0.
In addition, CyberGuard has conformed to 31 of the defined Common Criteria classes
of assurance.
The Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation (CCITSE)
is a set of evaluation criteria agreed to by the United States' National Security
Agency/National Institute of Standards and Technologies and equivalent bodies
in 22 other countries. It was designed to resolve the technical and conceptual
differences among existing standards for the evaluation of security systems
and products. Certification to the Common Criteria EAL4 requires in-depth analysis
of product design and development methodology, backed by extensive testing.
